Frank Bono, D.O.


Frank Sal Bono, D.O. a board certified, fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in disorders of the spine, brings to Gulfcoast Spine Institute a renewed commitment in serving our growing community with “State of the Art” spinal care. 

Dr. Bono is a graduate of the University of Central Florida with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Biology and Chemistry.  In 2000, he completed his medical education at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he earned his degree in Osteopathic Medicine.  He performed both his internship and residency at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

Having completed a Neurosurgical and Orthopedic Surgery fellowship in the Department of Spinal Surgery at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan, he joins Dr. Ronzo and Gulfcoast Spine Institute in continuing in the advancement of Minimally Invasive Spinal Technology.

In the Spring of 2010, Dr. Bono was invited to join the Extreme Speed Motorsports, an American Le Mans Series team as team physician.  Dr. Bono attends to injuries as well as monitoring the health of the drivers on and off the track.  In the event a driver should require spine surgery, Dr. Bono serves as a consultant.  

Dr. Frank S. Bono, an expert spine surgeon, has won a number of research awards from the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and the Michigan Osteopathic Association.  Other achievements include authorship in several publications and presenting numerous talks on subjects such as spinal reconstruction.  His greatest accomplishment he shares with his wife Susan, their four beautiful children.
